Harness for a Bird What Color?

Published on October 03, 2022

What color harness should you choose for a parrot? There are so many colors of different parrot harnesses you can use for your bird.

The first option is to choose a color that blends in with your parrot. This Palm Cockatoo is wearing a black harness so it blends right in! Likewise I often use a grey harness on African Greys, a green harness on Senegal Parrot, and Blue on Blue and Gold Macaw. Using a harness that matches in color makes it look more like the bird isn't even wearing a harness at all. Birds are often more accepting of a harness that is the same color as their feathers.

However, with proper training the color of harness shouldn't make any difference at all and you can choose a vibrant color that accents your parrot. For example putting a purple harness on an Amazon, a red harness on a Blue and Gold Macaw, and a pink harness on an Eclectus.
