Easiest Way to Trim Parrot Nails

Published on May 14, 2020

https://ParrotWizard.com/Nail_Trimmer

The easiest way to trim parrot nails is with the right tools and right methods.

This video is about the tools for the job, a future video will teach you the training methodology. Watch how easy it is for me to groom Rachel's claws using this method. Here's the 3 things you need to easily groom your parrot's talons:

1) Parrot Training Perch
2) Parrot Nail Trimmer Stone
3) Positive reinforcement Training

Having the bird gripping a comfortable, height adjustable, familiar Training Perch makes it so much easier to trim those nails. You can get a Training Perch Kit in any size for any parrot:

Next, you need the right grooming tool. Scissors can be too dangerous, dremel too difficult, a nail file is just right. But, not just any nail file. Nail files for people are too soft and if they don't get destroyed by the parrot's claws, they will by the parrot's beak. Parrot Nail Trimmer Stone from Parrot Wizard is specifically designed to make quick, effective, safe removal of the length and sharpness of parrot nails:

Last thing is an understanding of positive reinforcement based parrot training. A future video will share the method of teaching the bird to let you groom the talons voluntarily, but you can learn how training works from my book The Parrot Wizard's Guide to Well-Behaved Parrots:
