Baby and Adult Blue and Gold Macaw Behavior

Published on January 20, 2023

What is the difference between behavior/nature between a baby and adult macaw? A viewer submitted this question and I figured I'd give you the quick run down of the differences between a baby Blue and Gold Macaw and an adult Blue and Gold Macaw.

Baby Macaws are much more energetic and adventurous. They are eager to learn but they also have short attention spans. They want to get into everything and try everything. They are also more naive and might allow you to handle them in ways adults normally would not.

Adult Macaws tend to be calmer, stay put longer, and have a longer duration of attention. This sure is convenient in the long run. However, adult Macaws may be less trusting and can become aggressive. This is why it is super important to train them when they are young so that you can enjoy both the trust/handling of a baby with the calmer nature of an adult.
